Welcome to HVMS!

At Hoosac Valley Middle School we are committed to building a culture that is supportive of the social, emotional and academic needs of all of our students. We recognize the uniqueness of our adolescent learners and understand that our classrooms need to be places where they acquire a growth mindset and engage with learning tasks that are meaningful and rigorous.

We use our P.R.I.D.E. (Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Diversity and Empathy) to identify and emphasize our habits of learning. Our learning environment is led by the productive relationships between the staff and students. We recognize that growth is not always linear and sometimes require us to take a pause and try a different approach. Our goal is to build student agency and confidence in order for students to take increased ownership of their learning and social interactions. We do this by consistently supporting students with positive reinforcement, strong accountability measures and celebrations of accomplishments. Our school community is a nourishing environment where students pursue their individual interests, take risks and experience the joy of learning hard things.

HVMS is aware that it takes a village! We are always looking to strengthen our relationships with all of our families and community partners. We are open to honest conversations knowing that we are stronger when we are all moving in the same direction.
